As an elementary-level general education teacher, you are the person most likely to alert other professionals about a student you suspect may have a disability. For this reason, it is important that you know and understand the laws and policies that govern the process involved with special education.

This 2-part assignment provides you the opportunity to take a deep dive into the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as well as the rights of learners and parents, and the responsibilities of teachers. Complete Parts 1 and 2 below.

Part 1: Special Education Resource 

Create a 375- to 525-word informational resource that addresses the following topics in relation to special education:

  • Special education process
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), to include the Child Find mandate
  • Disability categories for special education eligibility

Part 2: Rights, Responsibilities, and Standards of Practice Presentation 

Research the following topics in relation to special education:

  • Federal and state involvement
  • Legal structures that govern programs
  • Laws that address learners’ and parental rights
  • Teacher expectations and responsibilities
  • Professional standards of practice

Note:

  • Create a 6- to 8-slide presentation using a presentation tool in the Technology Resource Library.
  • The tool must be approved by your instructor.

Address the following in your presentation:

  • Laws or policies related to learners’ and parental rights in special education
  • Teacher expectations and responsibilities for working with students with disabilities
  • Professional best practice strategies for the following:
  • Advocating to meet the needs of all learners
  • Promoting learners to meet full potential
  • Demonstrating respect for learners as individuals with differing personal and family backgrounds and various skills, abilities, and interests
  • Demonstrating collaboration with learners, families, and colleagues

Include the following elements in your presentation:

  • Title or introduction slide
  • Slide style that complements content
  • Minimum of 2 functional components (e.g., audio clip, visual graphic, or link)

You are the manager of a local auditing firm. Concerned about your current customer base, you consider the factors that might affect the attractiveness of your auditing firm. You realize you need to conduct business research. You know that service quality and the fees charged by auditors are two well-known factors, and you realize that the reputation of an auditing firm also needs to be included as an independent variable. As illustrated by the dramatic effects of recent auditing scandals, you know that reputation is especially important for large auditing firms.

You also believe that proximity of the auditing firm to the customer is another independent variable you will need to include as it likely affects the frequency of client visitations.

Get started by doing the following within your report:

  2. Create research questions.
  3. Identify the dependent, independent, moderating, and mediating variables.
  4. Sketch a diagram representing the theoretical model.
  5. Develop a minimum of four (4) testable hypotheses.

Write a 2-3 page paper outlining either an opportunity that you had implementing an organizational policy or being the recipient (client) of an organizational policy being implemented.

If you have not had this experience, please interview someone that you know in an organization who has had either of the two experiences. Although the premise is from a personal experience, the writing should reflect a third person account.

Be sure to support your thoughts with outside scholarly sources.

  • Identify the type of policy that was implemented. Explain the reasons supporting the implementation of the policy.
  • Explain the positives and negatives of the implementation process. This section could include feedback received from the clients using the policy.
  • Identify challenges or successes of the policy being implemented.
  • As a human resources consultant involved in the implementation process, what changes or different strategies would you recommend to the implementation process.

GUIDELINES:

1. Approximately 2-3 pages and double-spaced (not counting a title page or references page).
2. Student should follow the APA Style Manual for referencing and citing sources in the paper.
3. Paper should be written in third person – not first person.
4. All sources must be properly cited, according to APA style. In essence, you need to use in-text citations (no footnotes or endnotes in this paper whatsoever).

Hi class, lots of great points to start the class discussion. I work for a large multistate health care system and most of our growth at the moment is about care beyond the acute care setting. We have built several “all in one” centers that offer medical clinics, diagnostics, and primary care. We are also building free standing ED’s in key market areas to help capture patient that might otherwise go to our competitors. We have also invested in specialty centers for things like orthopedics and rehabilitation. All of these areas bring new money to the organization and provide actions to support our strategic plan to meet the “continuum of care.” I think historically we only thought about the acute care setting. Another point that supports this growth can be supported in another area of my work: Magnet. Magnet is a nursing designation that only 7% of the hospitals have earned. You might compare it to Baldrige in the business world, as it represents a comprehensive quality assessment. In the Magnet regulations, there are several sections that are individually focused on outpatient and ambulatory care. Historically these were a small part of the acute care focus. It is challenging as many of these service areas don’t have the metrics/benchmarks that are established and yet we know it is a very competitive market. We understand the importance and will be working to ensure our structure and processes extend into these new outreach markets. What types of shift to outpatient are you seeing and how do you think they will impact the financial stability of the organization?
