Medical history: Chronic hypertension (HTN) x 5 years;

Allergies: Penicillin

 Social history:

Family history: Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (mother); HTN and heart disease (father); breast cancer (maternal grandmother, deceased)

 Instructions

  3. What conditions are in Mrs. Jones history that would cause concern during pregnancy, labor, and birth?
  4. What concerns should be discussed with Ms. Jones before she leaves her appointment?

Each answer to your question should include the following:

  • A correct answer with thorough development of the topic
  • Gives clinical examples

Philosophy Reflection

Philosophy Reflection

Think about the following scenario and reply to the questions below. In replying, do your best to be as honest as possible when stating your reasons.

Imagine one day you hear a knock on your door. You open the door and there stands Morgan Freeman with two doctors. Freeman appears very ill and the doctors explain why they are there: as it turns out, Freeman lives down the street from you (who knew!) and has a rare life-threating illness. He needs an immediate plasma transfusion and will need the same donor to donate their plasma to him for the next year in order to stay alive and eventually recover. The doctors tell you that plasma transfusions can be extremely painful and will leave the plasma donor bed ridden for several days after each plasma donation. After asking you a few simple questions, the doctors determine that you are an exact match and are ready to perform the first of many transfusions right then and there. If you decline, Freeman will die within an hour.

What would you do in this scenario? Take on the burden of keeping Freeman alive for a year as the ultimate Good Samaritan? If so, why? Or decline and not take on the burden? If so, why? If you decline to help Freeman, do you think you would be killing him or merely letting him die?

visual analysis

Using Visuals To Enhance Viewer Perception

You have been hired by a large law enforcement agency to analyze the images used on advertising billboards in both urban and suburban regions. The billboards visually display a new campaign message to improve neighborhood safety.

During your analysis, you find that the images used on billboards in the urban areas are exactly the same as the images used in the suburban areas. Both images show parents happily talking with law enforcement officers while children run over green lawns having a fun balloon fight. You decide that these images are not sending proper perceptual messages. You decide to create a visual analysis video for the law enforcement agency to share with the administration.

For the video visual analysis, you realize you will need to find two new images that are quite different from one another. One image will be used on the urban billboard, and the other image will be used on the suburban billboard. In your video presentation, you will compare and contrast how each image utilizes the following:

  1. Compare and contrast the visual elements of cultural familiarity. Explain why it is important to use culturally familiar visuals that are quite different in the urban and suburban billboard images. Include specific visuals in your visual analysis.
  2. Identify specific visual examples of the following cognitive elements: memories, experiences, and expectation. Compare and contrast how urban and suburban viewers may be affected differently by those specific cognitive visual elements.
  3. Explain the difference between urban and suburban viewers’ emotionally engagement with each of the billboard images.
  4. Identify visual semiotic codes in both images: metonymic, analogical, displaced, and condensed. Discuss the importance of using these codes. Include specific visuals in each part of your visual analysis.

Note

As you outline your ideas for the video, you decide to record your verbal analysis while analyzing the two visuals in less than seven minutes for added clarity.

Slides must contain in depth presenter notes for each slide.

Part I: Research

Background

Conducting research can be overwhelming! Throughout this course and throughout your entire academic career, you will be asked to read, evaluate, synthesize, and present information to demonstrate your understanding of the content, justify your answers, and to speak authoritatively on issues that may differ from your personal beliefs. The study of psychology requires the ability to maintain neutrality and uphold the ethics and standards set forth for interacting and learning within an academic setting.

Goal:

To support the development of research skills and the application of research strategies, the scientific method, and critical thinking skills in preparation to complete assignments using formal academic writing, including APA formatting and citations.

Directions:

Identify and explore different career paths for a specific profession.

 Step 1:

Begin this activity by visiting the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook. Explore varying disciplines and jobs within them.

  • You can also use the resources available in your Topic 1 resources: Home: Occupational Outlook Handbook: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and org
  • If you are unsure where to start, look at the alphabetical listing of all professions on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics website. To get the list of careers alphabetically go to Occupational Outlook Handbook: A-Z Index listed in the Topic 1 resources.
    • Scan quickly and see what your subconscious may notice.

Step 2:

Click on areas of interest to you and see if you may have alignment in that career.

International Strategies

International Strategies

Prior to beginning this discussion, review Chapter 11 in the Abraham’s textbook on Diversified, Global, and Other Types of Organizations and listen to this audio snippet covering International Strategies. When companies expand into the international arena, they do so either because their home market has matured or because they see real opportunities in the foreign market.

Increasing the number of strategic business units requires a more complex business strategy. Sometimes the road to success in a foreign market can be a bumpy one. For insights into some of the more extreme cultural challenges posed when entering foreign markets as experienced by one of the United States’ largest fast food chains, read How McDonald’s conquered India (Links to an external site.) (Kannan, 2014) and  McDonald’s Settles Beef Over Fries (Links to an external site.) (Grace, 2002).

For this discussion, determine whether or not the company operates in the international marketplace. If so, research the company’s international strategy and evaluate it in terms of effectiveness in regards to one of the issues below.

If your company is not involved internationally, then choose one that is and evaluate that company’s international strategy in terms of effectiveness in regards to one of the following issues:

  • Cultural Barriers
  • Monetary Exchange Rates
  • Political Instability

Then,
