Case Requirements:

Petrobras Board of Directors has hired to you to assess the company’s cost of capital and asks you to address the following questions in your memo.

  1. Explain what is meant by the term “Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC)” and why the term should be of importance to the Board.
  2. Explain the difference between “sovereign spread” and “currency risk”. Does the sovereign spread compensate for currency risk?
  3. Explain if the investor perception of Brazil has an impact on the calculation of Petrobras cost of capital. (Explain your answer in relation to the cost of capital from an equity and debt perspective)
  4. Explain if the cost of capital is a relevant factor in the competiveness and strategy of Petrobras. (a simple yes or no is not sufficient – you need to explain your answer

Short Writing Assignments Instructions

 During the course of the semester, students are required to submit a short writing assignment in which you summarize and analyze a newspaper article on a political issue.  The Short Writing Assignment will be 20% of the course grade.  Students have access to newspapers online through ProQuest on the, including the following major newspapers: New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal.

Please Note:

You do not have to use ProQuest if you have other access to newspaper articles.

The writing assignment should be between 1-2 pages double-spaced.  The first half of the paper should be a summary of the newspaper article’s main points.  The second half of the paper should be your analysis of the newspaper article.  Your analysis can take many different forms: Do you agree or disagree with the article’s main points, and why?  How will this political issue affect the United States?  Will a new law make a positive or negative change to American politics?

You also must cite the article you use to get full credit:

Citation Format:

Author’s Last Name, Author’s First Name.  Article Year.  “Title of Article,” Name of

Newspaper, Article Date.

Example of Citation:

Davis, Eric. 2016. “Congress Looks to Pass New Immigration Law,” New York Times,

September 17, 2016.

Note: You just need to cite the article, not provide a link to the article.  Also, a link to the article is not a substitute for the citation.  You must have a citation to get full credit.

The paper should be double-spaced, in Times New Roman font, with 1-inch margins all around.  Papers should be uploaded in PDF or Microsoft Word format to Canvas. You will upload the Short Writing Assignment under the “Assignments” page under “Short Writing Assignment.”

 Additional Instructions:

  1. You do not have to use ProQuest.
  2. You don’t have to use the major newspapers listed above. However, it must be a reputable newspaper, not a blog.
  3. Cite the article you use. You don’t need to use a specific citation format. Just include the  basic information about the article: Author, Title, Date of article, Newspaper.

Conduct a health history on a family member or friend. You can use the form located in your Health Assessment lab manual book or from Week Two classroom assignment. You do not need to submit the health history form with your paper. Be sure they give you permission. Using the interviewing techniques learned in Module 2, gather the following information. Use your textbook as your guide.

  • Present Health
  • Past Medical Health
  • Family History
  • Review of Systems

While this is only a partial health history, summarize in 3 -5 pages the information you gathered.

Include your answers to the following questions in the summary:

  1. Was the person willing to share the information? If they were not, what did you do to encourage them?
  2. Was there any part of the interview that was more challenging? If so, what part and how did you deal with it?
  3. How comfortable were you taking a health history?
  4. What interviewing techniques did you use? Were there any that were difficult and if so, how did you overcome the difficulty?
  5. Now that you have taken a health history discuss how this information can assist the nurse in determining the health status of a client.

For example:

If you have a question about a specific topic, check with your instructor. It is recommended that you save your pamphlet as a PDF for submission.

This assignment works best with a whiteboard/paper and a number of markers.

Challenge: Brainstorm a quick list of retailer categories you are familiar with, such as bookstores, convenience stores, after market shops (for customizing cars, coffee shops, pet stores, clothing boutiques, gift shops, etc.). Now choose one retailer category of your choice from that list and come up with your own store. You are tasked to:

Part 1: Strategies

Research and summarize,  a minimum of five strategies for teaching adolescent students with deficits in their reading comprehension skills. Identify the conditions under which the chosen strategies are intended to be delivered (e.g., content area, class setting, required resources, if intended for a specific type of disability).
